Conservation

Conserving antique furniture is like delaying the inevitable deterioration of the piece with minimal intrusion and no alteration to the piece. Extremely old and valuable objects will only retain their high dollar value through conservation. We offer a three-part approach that your appraiser, auctioneer, and insurance company will appreciate:

1. We do the minimum necessary to stabilize the piece and its finish.
2. We document and photograph all work done and present the restoration report to the owner.
3. All work done is reversible. It can be removed if your appraiser feels that will increase the value of the piece. All work is completed with period wood, glue and finish and in accordance with the guidelines of theĀ  American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works (AIC) www.conservation-us.org
